Scouting Report
Summary
Diego is a quick, high-tempo player who brings speed and energy to the floor, but is still developing the core skills required to be an effective point guard. While he shows flashes of offensive ability and can get into his shot, he currently lacks the consistency and refined mechanics needed to be a reliable shooter. He is still undersized for competitive play, which can impact his physical presence on both ends. Defensively, he competes hard and shows willingness, but is still learning fundamental principles and positioning. Overall, he is an athletic, fast-paced guard who has potential, but needs to develop his basketball IQ, instincts, and point-guard responsibilities to elevate his impact.
Strengths
Diego has excellent quickness and plays with a strong sense of pace, allowing him to push the ball in transition and create early advantages. His shot form shows potential, and when he is in rhythm he can be a confident perimeter threat. Defensively, he gives solid effort, stays engaged, and competes on every possession. His work ethic and willingness to play hard are clear positives, and his natural speed gives him tools that can be utilized at both ends of the floor.
Areas We Are Working On
The focus is on developing true point guard skills, including improving his decision-making, building stronger instincts, and learning how to read situations to make the right play. His shooting needs to become more consistent through better mechanics, repetition, and shot selection discipline. Increasing physical strength and overall weight is also a priority to help him withstand contact and defend bigger guards. On defense, Diego needs to sharpen his fundamentals, including stance, footwork, angles, and anticipation, to match his effort level. Overall, we are working on helping him grow into a smarter, more controlled lead guard who can run a team and make efficient decisions on the floor.
