Scouting Report
Illya is a talented guard with strong size for his position and natural scoring instincts. We are currently seeking to transition Illya from a shooting guard into a true point guard role, and while he has the offensive tools to do so, he must develop a more complete floor game and team-oriented approach. His physical profile and scoring ability give him strong long-term potential if he can refine his decision-making and leadership qualities.
Strengths
Offensively, Illya is a confident and capable shooter who can create his own shot and score from multiple levels. His size and strength allow him to shoot over smaller defenders, and he displays good balance and mechanics when set. He thrives in scoring situations and can generate offense quickly when in rhythm. His overall athletic tools and offensive mindset suggest significant upside once he channels his skills within a structured system.
Areas We Are Working On
We are currently working with Illya on improving his decision-making and overall floor leadership as he transitions from a SG to a PG role. At times, he can focus too much on creating his own shot, so our goal is to help him better recognize opportunities to involve teammates and make quicker, more efficient reads. This includes developing stronger situational awareness, understanding defensive rotations, and making timely passing decisions within the flow of the offense. Defensively, we are emphasizing greater mobility and lateral quickness to help him stay in front of faster guards and improve on-ball containment. With continued focus on communication, court vision, and balanced offensive pacing, Ilya has the potential to become a well-rounded lead guard. His size, scoring ability, and work ethic give him high upside, and with consistent coaching and accountability, he is on a strong trajectory for long-term success.
