Scouting Report

Johan is a recent arrival to Canada and is still adjusting to the pace, physicality, and structure of North American basketball. Although his size suggests he should play point guard, he currently operates more as a combo guard and is still developing the instincts and IQ needed to run an offense. His decision-making, ability to read the floor, and understanding of when and how to pass are still in progress, as is remembering plays and executing within a system. Offensively, he can hit an open shot but lacks consistency, struggles with shooting off the dribble, and needs work on shot selection. Despite these areas of growth, he brings strong defensive effort, energy, and competitiveness, and projects as an OCAA-level player with continued development.

Strengths

Johan is a high-motor defender who plays hard on every possession and shows a strong defensive mindset. He communicates well, brings positive energy, and is vocal on the floor, which elevates team engagement. His athleticism is solid, giving him the tools to keep up with opposing guards, and he has good size for his height. He is coachable, eager to learn, and consistently shows a great attitude and work ethic – all traits that support long-term growth and success at the post-secondary level.

Areas We Are Working On

He is currently focused on developing point guard instincts, especially decision-making, understanding game flow, and knowing when to pass versus attack. Improving passing accuracy, vision, and comfort in structured sets is a priority, along with strengthening his ball handling and tightening his overall control under pressure. Shooting consistency is another key area: he needs to build rhythm on open shots, develop the ability to shoot off the dribble, and make better choices with shot selection. Additionally, he is working on boxing out more consistently and improving his rebounding fundamentals to complement his defensive effort
